Breakfast with ruffians - he wore red cowboy boots

I haven't posted a long picture story for a long time. I will do so now. I begin with the boys at the front door.

They go out, headed for the car - not the red Ford Escape, but the dark Navy blue Chevy Tahoe. Their dad is driving us today.

Soon we are at Abby's. There is a a truck cribbage board sitting on the window sill. The boys want to play with it. It is a real struggle to try to stop them. I don't photograph the struggle because I am struggling too hard to take pictures.

Finally, everyone sits down. There is a moment's peace. Through the window I see a familiar face I used to frequently see in Barrow. It is Eileen. She has just exited a red Ford pickup truck through the right door. This means James - "Matu" - has exited through the left.

Soon Matu is at our table. Lynx wants some personal attention.

He gets it, too.

James and Eileen take the table at the far end of the restaurant from where we sit. Kalib goes over to tell them about trains and such.

Lynx finds a little chair in the playroom and pushes it out of the playroom through the restaurant. It makes a terrible, loud, grinding, noise.

Jobe, in the playroom.

We had ordered a "to go" breakfast for Lavina, who had lingered at the house to get ready to go to the Womens' Show at the Menard Sports Center, where she had a booth about birth to run. Then she found out she did not need to be there for half-an-hour. So she joined us. She is feeding pancakes and eggs to Lynx.

Tim and Wesley come in. Wesley comes to the table and asks Lynx to look at his new cowboy boots.

Wesley is very proud of his new boots.

Wesley is also very proud of his new, black hat. Tim is very proud of Wesley.

Regular readers will certainly have observed that something is askew here. Tim is drinking from a chicken cup, yet, his cowboy cup can be seen in the previous frame in front of me. There is a story here and it extends back to over one month ago, right after I returned from Anaktuvuk. Eventually, I will get around to telling it.

Probably. Maybe.

Wesley shows off his red boots and black cowboy hat to Andy. Lavina apprehensively searches for Kalib, who has suddenly vanished.

After Bill pays the bill, Bill goes out and finds his son and grandsons throwing rocks into the air so they can watch them fall into the snow. For the moment, everything is frozen pretty good but as the day wears on and the sun grows more intense, we will return to the big melt down.

Just before we leave, Matu comes out. He and Jacob slug each other in the fists.

That was yesterday. Jacob, Lavina and the boys have gone home now. Margie is in Arizona. I am here alone with the cats. Abby's opened one minute ago. I am going to post this, then I am going to drive over and order breakfast and eat and drink coffee in peace and quiet..
