A birthday party for Cortney and Charlie: the cheesecake was damn good and I sampled it all

For two days, Margie and I have had Kalib, Jobe and Lynxton with us to enable Jacob and Lavina to get a few things out of the way so they can celebrate their anniversary tomorrow. On Saturday evening, we drove to Melanie's house in Anchorage to celebrate the birthdays of Cortney, which took place on the 13th when she was in Dillingham, and Charlie.

We had but a tiny non-parking spot slot to park in, so Lavina directed as I manuevered in reverse.

Then she kissed Jobe, who she had not seen since yesterday.

The last time Margie and I saw Rex and Cortney was on the Big Island of Hawaii, February 2, right after their wedding. They continue to be all lovey-dovey, which is good with me. Or was it the third?

Lisa had a toy that projects a laser beam onto the floor so that cats can chase after it. Kalib and Jobe thought they were cats. It was totally crazy.

There was a cheesecake cooking competition. The one to the left is Melanie's. It had lemon in it and it was damn good. The one in the middle with the fruit is Lisa's. It was damn good. The chocolate one at right is Bryce's. It was damn good.

The couple at right, btw, is Jim and Cyndy Earnshaw, Charlie's parents.

They are damn good parents, too.

This is the cheesecake that Charlie made. It was damn good. Jobe wanted to blow the candles out before their time. That's why Cortney is trying to block his blow.

Jobe got to blow, so did Kalib.

Then we ate, everybody having a bit of every cheesecake, plus some pumpkin muffins which were also damn good but I cannot remember who made them. Earlier, we had eaten some damn good lasagna and salad.

No one was pronounced a winner. They were all just too damn good to judge.

The coffee was damn good, too.

I probably won't sleep much tonight.

And in the morning, we plan to meet my friends Matu and Eileen, who have moved down here from Barrow, at Abby's for breakfast, which I know will be damn good, because it always is.

I fear I am on the verge of getting really fat.

The fellow at the far right is Don of Fairbanks - a friend of Melanie and Charlie's who was also good friends with Ryan, who we lost to a heart attack early last month.
