A dog just stepped in front of me, so I will do my text-less picture post test and see if the picture posts

Sent from my iPhone

Update 2:42: This picture has now been up for an hour-and-eighteen minutes standing alone with no text. The test worked. Then I did a followup test with a red truck and no text. It worked, too. It posted the picture. So, along with the two accidental tests this morning, this is four posts in a row that contained only a picture and no text. I did this with the email workaround, then tried the truck again, with no text, using the iPhone app, and tried to post it as a draft. It didn't post anything. Not the picture, not even the title.

Squarespace is very strange. I think I will remove the red truck, because I like the dog(s) much better and want it to be at the top of the page for awhile - until I post my daily school bus. Here is what I wrote when I made the original dog Instagram, dictation typo corrected:

I am walking. ahead of me there is a dog in the road, blocking my path, trying to act tough. I am not afraid. I know it's kind. In the end, he will lower his tail and accept a pat upon his head.

Outside trucks inside trucks and one hand not quite on the wheel (Update, 11:39 AM: single picture post altered to become "Three Studies of Kalib at Abby's")

Kalib and I are at Abby's. Yes there have been trains rolling about the house since he arrived, but here are at Abby's there are trucks. Inside trucks outside trucks.

Perhaps it is a foolish quest, I am going to try to post this from here. Well, the text will post. Will have to see about the picture. There will be a school bus later today.*

*Yes, Squarespace did strip the picture and I am only now - two hours later - finally able to add it back in. In the meantime, this sat here as a picture less post. An interesting thing did happen, though. I expain below, under what will now be the third picture in this post.

Well, all those Mormon church leaders who raised me and my extended family members who remain faithful would or will be horrified to see this. "What kind of example are you setting for your young grandson?!" I can hear them exclaim.

I am content with it The coffee is good. My day begins better because of it.

Ok. This is what happened. I took this last two pictures after I had attempted to post the first picture remotely from Abby's but failed after the Squarespace app stripped it out of the picture. I then decided not to bother trying to post these last two from Abby's but just to email them to myself and combine them with the first in one post which would then become "Three Studies of Kalib at Abby's."

When I post remotely, I cannot post more than one picture at a time, whether I use the app or the mail workaround, but of course when I sit down at my computer I can put as many pictures in a post as I desire.

Interestingly, when I first tried to email this bottom picture to myself, I somehow inadvertantly used the address Squarespace gave me to do the email workaround. I did not realize I had done this. All I knew was the picture I had emailed to myself was not showing up. So I tried again. Again, it did not show up.

Then, when I got to this computer and opened up Logbook I was surprised to see two posts I had not intended to put. Both were of this picture standing completely alone. No text. Not a single word.

This causes me to wonder if maybe the Squarespace failing is that, most often, is less that it strips the picture out, but that it cannot properly handle both picture and text together, but handle either one alone. So, as a test, I will post my Daily School Bus this afternoon from Metro Cafe. It will be a wordless post. Picture only, but I will try a headline.

Then I will see if it successfully posts the picture, and add words in later.

The black cat and I remain here, a boy has joined us

It's one hour and nine minutes later. I am still on the reclining chair. The fire is still burning. Jim is still on my lap. Lynxton has joined us.•

*For an explanation as to why this post sat here with no picture for awhile, see explanation in previous post.

Not far away a fire burns

It is 8:40 PM. By my reckoning, very early. But I am too tired to do anything. Anything but sit here on this reclining chair, 6 feet away from a warm fire burning in the woodstove, with Jim, the good black cat taking a nap on my lap.•

*I apologize for the long delay in which text sat here alone with no picture. I could have remedied this an hour-and-a-half ago, if I had but nudged Jim off my lap, removed the warm blanket from my body, got up from the recliner, come out here to my office and repaired the damage Squarespace had done to this post. But I couldn't make myself do that. I was too comfortable and so was Jim. Now I will go add the picture of Jim and Lynxton into the most recent post, which has been sitting picture empty for the same reason.

Lynxton bounces energetically about in front of his mom, who could use a charge of that energy; so could I

I thought I would be picking up Margie, Kalib and Jobe and taking them back to Wasilla with me. As it turns out, I'm not taking Jobe but Lynxton. And here is Lynx bouncing about in front of his mom.*

*I wrote these words over an hour ago in Anchorage, when I made the Instagram. For reasons well-known to recent readers, I did not even bother to try to post until just now, after I had reached home. So... Kalib and Lynx will spend the night with us. Tomorrow, Jacob will take Jobe to day care and Lavina will go to Kodiak for work.

In the evening, Jacob and Jobe will join us for the night and, if I understand correctly, Lavina's brother will be at their house to care for Muzzy the dog and Marty the cat. Lavina will come out Saturday and then they will all go home.

In the meantime, we will probably have a bunch of fun around here.

I doubt I will blog much of it. It is just too hard to do so right now.

But I will blog some of it!

And it will be fun!

A train might appear in it.

Maybe even a plane.
