The daily school bus: from the drive-through line

The daily school bus: from the drive-through line at McDonald's as I prepare to take Margie to Anchorage so she can babysit.

The Squarespace nightmare continues. I am posting this with the email workaround. If Squarespace strips the picture out, then it will be likely a couple of hours or so before I can get home and put it back in on my computer. In the meantime…*

*Indeed, Squarespace did strip the photo out. It is now just over three hours since I put up the post and nearly four hours since I took the picture. Finally, I am able to sit at my computer and add the picture back in. This is now a 72 percent failute rate for the email workaround Squarespace gave me to fill in for the defective app they market to the public. I never did calculate the failure rate for the app, but without a doubt it had climbed above the 90 percent range when I finally gave up on it and Squarespace and launched this daily school bus process in my effort to prod Squarespace to make their app usable. I am so weary with the headaches - this being only the latest - but the worst - in a long chain of Squarespace aggravations stretching back more than five years.

Hey slug! This heatwave won't last forever

Slug! What are you doing?!! How could you grow so lackadaisical? Slither! Slither! Slither! Slither away to wherever you hole up for the winter. This is not normal, you know. Wasilla ground tends to be frozen by now. Solid. And it used to be that the surface of Wasilla lakes would all freeze over right about now, too. Even in this time of climate change, this heat-wave will not last forever. You had better find your winter home fast or you will become an icetube.

*I knew it was risky, but since the email workaround Squarespace had given me to fill the gap while they allegedly fix the photo-stripping bug in their iPhone app had worked this morning, after working once and failing twice yesterday, I went ahead and used it again on my coffee break and attempted to post the above post with the slug picture. I made two attempts. The Squarespace email workaround stripped the picture from my post both times. So I have now made six tries with the Squarespace email workaround. Two have succeeded, four have failed - a failure rate of 66 2/3 percent. My fellow blogger Conchscooter from the Florida Keys informs me he has used Google's much maligned blogspot host since 2007, has posted close to 3300 essays and makes frequent use of google's blogsy app, all with great success and without having a misfire that removed even one picture. This makes good sense, as Google is free while Squarespace charges a fee. You do get what you pay for - if what you pay for is frustration, aggravation, huge amounts of wasted time and failed posts.

The daily school bus: Them damn monkeys!

Just as I fearfully speculated yesterday, in my flight to save my coffee from the school bus-load of monkeys chasing me, I did turn onto a very rough side road, too rough for a school bus to follow, but, sure enough, them damn monkeys had already set up an ambush for me.

I won't take the time to describe the bitter fight and flight that followed but I barely managed to escape with my coffee. Now I am on the run in my Ford Escape, furtively dashing here and there, trying to hide from all those monkeys who now prowl about in school buses, looking for me, determined to steal my coffee from me.

On a sidenote, yesterday I was so happy when it appeared Squarespace had helped me find a workaround solution to this awful problem their once functioning but now impossibly defective iPhone app has created for me. As is shown in previous posts, I did a test of their workaround solution and the test worked beautifully. But, shortly thereafter, still celebrating in elation, I tried to make my next regular, non-school bus post. Squarespace stripped the picture out of it. So I tried once again, using the workaround method I had been given. Again Squarespace stripped the picture right out of it.

So, after all this time and aggravation I have suffered because of the defect that has taken over the Squarespace iPhone app, and after thinking the problem had been allayed and I could now easily post both text and picture using the email method, I find I can't have any confidence it will work each time. I now resume my "Daily School Bus" protest of the fact that Squarespace is marketing such a defective product at my expense. I hope these daily reminders will prod them to fix the problem as soon as possible.

As the email workaround did succeed one time out of three yesterday I will use it make my first attempt to post this. We will see what happens.

Note: This time, the email workaround worked! The workaround now has a 50 percent success rate. Do I dare try again later with a non-protest post?

And here is the rainbow Squarespace stripped from the two pervious posts

Thinking more about it, I decided that since I had told readers about the rainbow, I really should post it. So here it is. When I first saw it, I was kind of wishing I had one of my real cameras with me and a lens with some reach to it. But when you shoot with an iPhone, you work within its shortcomings and strengths and if your eye is good and you feel the picture in your heart, then you will come up with a decent image - no matter what camera you use.

With a burden lifted, I head out for my coffee break and I'm greeted by a rainbow

I am so happy I can post at will to my blog again, without going through all that nonsense Squarespace was putting me through. And I thank Ariella G of Squarespace for coming up with a solution. Here I am, headed out on my coffee break – a little later than usual.

Update: 6:00 PM: As you can see, there is no picture on this try either. Squarespace stripped it out just as it did in the previous post, just as it does when I use the app. My experience, Squarespace = wasted time, endless aggravation. My Daily School bus protest and prod will resume tomorrow.
