Carmen disappeared after Christmas to cruise the Western Carribean with her family. Today, she returned, bearing gifts for her baristas. Hence:

I am about to leave for Salt Lake City. I did not know I was going to take this trip until Friday. Wednesday morning, my brother Rex is scheduled to go into open heart surgery for third time.
