The Daily School Bus: I dream of Bob Dylan and North Slope schools

Last night was a night of many dreams and awakenings, all spaced about one hour apart. The first dream was about Bob Dylan and it came not long after we went to bed about 12:30. He was doing a concert somewhere and singing,"Don't think twice, it's alright." Then he stopped by my hotel room to visit. I sat on one side of the room and he on the other, dressed in black. I looked straight into his face and it looked not as it looks now but as it looked 45 years ago – maybe 50. His hair was bushy, his eyes intense. "Goddam!" I stated emphatically. Then I woke up thinking I must've slept for hours but it was 1:30.

The next dream took place in a school in one of the villages on the North Slope. Again, I woke thinking I must've slept for hours but now it was 2:30 AM. So it went all through the night – me having dreams taking place in different schools in the villages of the North Slope and then waking up one hour after I had last woken from a dream until finally I got up about 8:30. I do not remember the details of any of these dreams, only that they happened and it seemed like in just about every village. As for this Daily School Bus, I saw it yesterday evening as I drove to Chugiak for the event on which I plan to report tonight.

I knew I would come home to find at least one boy had stayed behind

When I left Chugiak to return home, I wondered which of the boys I would find had decided not to go back to Anchorage with their parents but to stay in Wasilla with their grandparents. When I had earlier left the house to go to Chigiak, in theory they were all going to go home. But I knew they wouldn't. These are the two who remained behind, Kalib and Jobe.

What I witnessed tonight in Chugiak is well worth a report here, but I think I will wait until tomorrow to do it. I could spend the whole day tomorrow just blogging about today. But then, I can't afford to spend the whole day at it. I'll give it some time, though.

Three or four hours ago at the reindeer farm

We are at reindeer farm. Pumpkin day. Too hard to shoot and post. Signal weak, multiple post failures. More later. (I wrote the preceding at least three hours ago maybe four. A lot has happened since then. I am now at the gas station in Palmer, having pulled in with 1 mile to go before empty. There's still much to go in this day so we'll see how much I get posted from the reindeer farm or not, I don't know).

Well, I am home now, where I was able to copy and paste the above into this post. In less than two hours, I need to be in Chugiak, so I am not even going to worry about posting any more pictures today from our little outing in search of a Halloween pumpkin. I will make it my goal to post a selection tomorrow. I did snap a school bus image on the way home.

I will post it, but not for awhile yet, because I want this shot of Kalib and his cousins with the reindeer to remain at the top of the page for at least an hour or two, maybe three.
