Fog is boss today

"Fog is the boss today." So said Tommy this morning about 6:00. The winds have died down to 10 to 15 knots, seas two to four feet. This is deemed good enough to go and we were up ready at 5:00 AM but it was too foggy. The fog keeps moving in and out - sometimes heavy, sometimes light. Reports are the weather is really good in Nuiqsut, headed this way.

To patch the cracked hull

The wind and sea is supposed to calm by tomorrow and then three of the boats owned by different members of EMN crew will go back out. Edward will take his boat to West Dock to get the cracked hull repaired. In the meantime, Isaiah applies a temporary patch to the crack. #crossisland #inupiatwhaling #beaufortsea The wind and sea is supposed to calm by tomorrow and then three of the boats owned by different members of EMN crew will go back out and i expect to be in one of them. The misspelled name

Abe Stine. People tend to misspell his name. Even me, I misspelled it three years ago in Uiniq. I am so embarrassed. And look! I just misspelled Uiniq, too. Not my fault - Apple iPhones fault. They give me no way to make the right symbol over the "n."

Here is a photo of a polar bear to explain why I have not been posting photos of bears

I have been asked why I am not posting pictures of the bears. The answer is simple. I am only posting pictures I take with my iPhone - not my "real cameras." I suppose Iight possibly get close enough to a bear to get a decent photo with this phone but then it just might be the last photo I ever take. But here is a photo I took of the LCD on my "real camera" after I had used it to photograph some bears, including this one.

The prayers and actions of the not particularly religious: Part 10 of 10:

As for Leon, he notes he is not particularly religious, but the farther out and deeper into the storm they got, the more he prayed - not frantic prayer. He kept his wits. Once they found the troubled boats, it was particularly challenging to pull alongside Eric's for the passenger transfer as his engine problems prevented him from powering back to the right speed. Still they did it, got life jackets on the boys, had them roll from one boat into the next, wrapped them up, instructed them to lie flat on the floor no matter what and brought them safely home. This morning at church, Taalak jokingly called him "Reverend Leon," and asked him to do a scripture reading. He didn't really know what to do but Bernice let him borrow her Bible. He found some scriptures she had marked in Psalms and read those.
