Logbook: Wasilla to Nuiqsut: entry 2: Downtown Anchorage

The Drive was uneventful, but we were running about 10 minutes later than I had hoped. That would put us at the airport 50 minutes ahead of departure time. In some cities that can be a real problem but in Anchorage it is usually no problem at all – if... IF... nothing goes wrong...

Logbook; Wasilla to Nuiqsut, entry 1: Good black cat equals no sleep

We depart Wasilla at 4:10 AM, after a night of no sleep, thanks in large part to my good black cat, Jim. I had set my alarm for 3:50 AM and got to bed just after midnight, too wired to sleep much but hoping I might be able to rest a bit. Shortly after 1:00 AM, Chicago, the calico cat, jumped up on the bed and settled down next to my head, but Jim was not there.
I got up to see if I had accidentally locked him in the office or if he was in the living room or something. He was nowhere to be found. Margie said she had found the side door to the garage open a bit earlier and had closed and locked it. It seemed that Jim must have gone through it. Despite our little forays into the yard. Jim is an indoor cat. I opened the door and called. He did not come. Yes, Jimmy is a cat who usually comes when I call. I walked into the dark woods,
calling his name. Margie got a flashlight and searched near the house. After about half an hour, she shouted out that he was in the house. She had found him walking down the hall. Here he is in the beam of her flashlight, about 2:00 AM. We were back in bed by 10 AM, At 3 AM I was still awake, but I did manage to doze off for about 20 minutes before the alarm went off. I had a little computer task I needed to instruct Margie how to do for me, so I took her to the office but in front of the door there was some slimy, green, cat barf. "Don't step in that," I warned, but when we came back out she forgot and stepped in it. I then took a close look at it. There was grass in it. That cat had been outside.

Table top

I wasn't going to post again today, but I just sat down at this table and thought, "what the hell. I'll take a picture of this table top and post it." That's what iPhone and Instagram have done to me.

I am going on a trip so I get a haircut

When Jacob was growing up and would come home and find I had just gotten a haircut, he would say something like, "I see you're going on another trip, Dad." I just got a haircut. I'm going on another trip. This is Misty, cutting my hair at Sport Clips. I like to get my haircut by Leah Frankson, originally of Point Hope, now doing business in Anchorage, but sometimes it is just too hard to get a haircut in Anchorage and so I get it out here in Wasilla. The folks at sport clips are fast and good. But Leah, if you see this, I will be back when I can make it. I did take an "after" shot. I'm debating whether I should put it up or not. One-shot seems enough, but maybe…

I suppose I might as well get it out of the way: the "after" shot. I don't think I will post anything more until tomorrow morning when I leave on my trip.
