The Mormon missionary entry is done - but I've got to read through it one more time before I post, so here is the Sports Authority on a windy afternoon

I think I went way overboard this time. Maybe I was a trying to write a book instead of a blog, but a blog is not a book and should not be treated as one. Oh well. I have done what I have done and I am not going to undo it, yet I must read through it one more time. I will strive to better restrain myself in the future.

Many of you have probably noticed my tendency to make typos, misspell common words, drop others altogether. Trouble is, when I proofread, my mind tends to see these errors not as they are but as they are supposed to be. There is a good fellow back east by the name of Albert Lewis who tries to find time each day to read through my blog and then send me the corrections that he finds, but the blog can sometimes be up awhile before he can get to it.

Plus, this one is extra long, Albert has a life to live and may not have time to do a good proofread.

I am certain this entry that I must reread has more words in it than any other that I have ever posted, so there will be many typos and such and although I just read through the whole thing, two or three times, I am very tired. I know I missed dozens of errors. I could read through them again right now and I would still miss them.

Maybe I will do a little better if I wait until morning, get some sleep and then go have breakfast at Abby's.

I think the majority of my potential readers will skip most of it, because it is just too long. But a few will read it, so I want to catch as many typos, misspellings and such as I can.

I will miss many of them, though. I can promise you that.

I like reading your work, Bill. It is very well done. From the heart. That is important.

Never met a typo I didn't like. Sometimes they can be hilarious! Not to worry about them Bill. I just read right over the top of them, as most do I imagine.

I used to volunteer at the office of our local Symphony. Prior to each concert we would send out a flyer. The common information was the same from concert to concert, just the dates & music were changed. We always passed the flyer around the office so everyone could "proof" it. Looked great to us. Then came the day when someone called, very sheepishly, to tell us that the flyer, instead of saying "Broadcast over Hawaii Public Radio," actually (giggle, giggle) said "Broadcast over Hawaii PUBIC Radio."

Hi Bill,

Love your new blog!
This last pic looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting :)

Bill,

Your blog is my go to site when I go online each day. Seriously! But, if I am in a hurry, I will wait.

I know you put your heart and soul into this, so, I don't want to give it short shrift, if I am on my way out the door.

I guess I think of your blog as a fine wine which needs to be savored. (if I drank wine that is - LOL)

Am anxiously awaiting the new blog. So enjoyed what you have been writing. Also it is impossible for some of us to proof our own work...I think it is just too close to us and we do seem to see what we meant to say...I feel you've allowed us to be privy to your manuscript and the least we can do is overlook typos or other careless errors. Thank you so much.

One trick to proofreading something you've written (as opposed to proofing someone else's work, which is much easier) is to proof it backwards. It's easier to catch the mistakes when you're not "reading" as you proof, which makes you fill in the blanks.

But we don't mind typos! Really!

You have a new fan with your new blog - impatiently waiting for the blog/book - but enjoying the stories in between

I second what Mirage said, and am looking forward to your key piece - WITH a glass of fine wine :) Don't worry about the length - your stream of consciousness is key to whole workshop experience, so please don't shortchange yourself and us, typos and other perceived idiosyncrasies are a part of it all.

Kathryn - thank you. I'm glad you followed me to this new blog.

Katzkids - Here I just put a post up about how Margie and I came together and now look you've got me thinking about! Hawaii Pubic... Radio! That's kind of why I like to catch the typos, if I can.

Twain, the content is now up.

Marge - thank you. Great to hear. I lost close to 75 percent of my daily readership in making the switch, but you give me hope they will come back. If I am to succeed at this, I need even more to come - many more - like about 3 million. (I jokes).

Lily - maybe I had better make prints and sell them at Thomas KInkade's prices then. (Once again - I jokes).

Mirage - your's is the first analogy of my blog to wine. I'm glad it wasn't whiskey. I don't think whiskey can be savored. To be honest, I never thought of anyone savoring my blog. Thank you.

Millie, I worked really hard to find typos and other foolish errors, but still there be dozens for you to overlook. You're welcome and thank you.

OmegaMom - I have a tendency to do things backwards. It just might work.

TS - always glad to bring in someone new.

Zun - Given your workshop topic, I think this new post will be of particular interest to you. Enjoy that glass of wine.

MFSoCal - Thank you. In Wasilla, in the winter, one must leave the light on. Thank you!
