Snow on the Escape

I stepped out onto the front porch this morning to discover it is snowing. I don't think it's anything to get too excited about, this isn't THE snow that is here to stay, like the snow that came to Nuiqsut and all of far north Alaska has stayed, but it is a preview of fun things to come here in Wasilla. I am now at Abby's where a fresh, hot, cup of coffee has just been placed before me.

Getting a little better through restrained activity and a little help from a two-year-old

I did almost nothing today. I did not take a walk, I only left the house once to get a cup of coffee. I didn't lift anything at all heavy. I didn't throw anything. I think it helped. I did not aggravate my injury, as I have every other single day a few times since it happened.

My level of pain is notably less than it was last night. It isn't gone, but it feels like it's going. I am leaving the heavy lifting to Lynx. I don't much like it, though. I prefer to move around and do things. Tomorrow, I will try to at least take a short walk.

What… What… What's my name?

Now that he knows his grandma is "Margie," I was wondering if Jobe knows my name? Thomas the Train has a friend named Bill and Margie told me that when she stays with them in Anchorage she tells the boys that grandpa is "Bill," too.

"No, he's Grandpa!" they insist.

Tonight, as Jobe and Kalib were pulling out of the driveway with their parents and turning onto the road to leave, Jobe looked out the window. "See you later, Bill!" he shouted.

Jobe discovers grandma has a name

This actually happened yesterday, just as I was preparing to leave the fall festival with Jobe strapped into a car seat on the front passenger seat and Kalib sitting in the back. I called Margie to let her know we were coming home.

"Margie?" Jobe looked at me questioningly after the call. "Who's Margie?"

"Grandma," I answered. "Margie is grandma."

"Grandma?" Jobe looked at me with wonder. "Margie is grandma?"

"Yes."

"Margie is grandma. Grandma is Margie!" Jobe then said three or four times repeatedly.

Train rolls through open office

Kalib and Jobe play with my HO train in my office – which is open. All three boys are back at our house with their mom and dad. They will take Kalib and Jobe home with them but Lynx will stay here tonight and tomorrow night and then I won't have to take Margie into town to babysit until Tuesday, seeing as how we have been apart for so long.
