Halloween has changed – what am I to do with all this candy?

Well, it must be getting close to an hour since the last two trick-or-treaters were here. I still can't leave my vigil, though.

It's raining outside. Do you think that has anything to do with it? Maybe, but I don't think so. When we first lived out here and the kids were small, there were years that we had to go back to the store and buy more candy because our original generous supply was not enough. And we commonly took them out in snow and cold weather – sometimes below zero. So what's a little rain?

No, I think things have just changed. I'll bet in the rich neighborhoods there are carloads of kids going in, though. We noticed that a few years back as we drove past a rich neighborhood after taking Kalib and Jobe to a Halloween gathering at the Alaska Transportatian and Industry Museum, so they could wander among airplanes and get candy. Or was it just Kalib?

Hmmmm… No trick-or-treaters, but lots of candy… hmmmm.... And look at Jim! The good black cat looks really scary tonight!

Calico cat waits for a view more trick-or-treaters

The black cat is not the only cat here with me as I await more trick-or-treaters. Chicago, the calico cat, is here too. Normally, I would be in my office at my computer at this time, but I could not hear any trick-or-treaters from back there. One more pair came after the two tall boys – two girls, one of medium height in some kind of big cat costume and a littler one dressed as a witch, I believe. But I had gotten up to get something in the kitchen and had set my iPhone down on the table. I heard them knocking and I looked all over but I couldn't find my phone and I couldn't just leave them standing at the door, so I had to give them candy without taking a picture. Other than that, there has been no trick or treaters here except those four. I am not sure there will be any more. but I have to maintain my spot out here in the living room, just in case. I could be sitting at my computer in my office getting something done, but then a bear might sneak in and steal all the candy.

Right after I posted the black cat but no trick or treaters two tall ones showed up

No sooner had I posted my black cat but no trick-or-treater lament then I heard a knock upon the door. I got up and opened it. I found these two trick or treaters. They were both taller than me. But then I am kind of short.

Black cat on Halloween night: so far, no trick-or-treaters

It is just about 6:40 PM and so far not a single trick-or-treater has showed up. There is a black cat present, however. He is enjoying the warmth of the Halloween fire.

The Daily School Bus

One zipped past in a streak... now I have to get back into the living room and be on guard for trick or treators. I hope none come by while I type this. There probably won't be very many. Last year, only about a dozen in about three groups - maybe four.
